Spatsizi Plateau Wilderness Provincial Park is a provincial park protecting most of the Spatsizi Plateau, the southeasternmost sub-plateau of the Stikine Plateau, and the upper reaches of the basin of the Stikine River. The Dease Lake area is not only rich in forested land, but offers locals and tourists a vast choice of lakes and rivers to fish from! Along the entire route of the Cassiar Highway, North and South, one will find lake after lake full of trout and pike! There is a small lake in the Dease Lake town site (Allan Lake) that provides off shore fishing opportunity, or small power boat. Dease Lake itself is a large body of water welcoming boaters, swimmers, and water sports. There is an annually Dease Lake fishing Derby which is scheduled for the July long weekend! Dease Lake is a hunter’s paradise, with thousands of acres of welcoming forest for all types of hunters. There are foot access hunting areas, as well as fly-in only or boat-in only areas. The hunting regulations are very stringent in this area, and it is advised that those wishing to hunt contact the local Conservation Office prior to booking their trips.
